Corfu town

weather forecast by weather.gr

The main town of Corfu is one of the most charming locations in all of Greece. Kerkyra Corfu Greece (and the rest of the Ionian islands) was never occupied by the Turks, hence it has a very different character from the rest of the country. With Venetian influences everywhere and a rich culture, little streets and panoramic views, CorfuTown seduces in every way.

If a town could satisfy everyone, it would probably be Corfu, simply because it has so many different faces. Walking through the old town, at times you feel like you are in Italy, but turn around the corner and suddenly you see a greek taverna, or maybe even an English pub. You can find everything in Corfu town, expensive shops and traditional street markets, modern buildings and ancient landmarks. So be prepared for an unforgettable experience while discovering the mysteries of this complex city.

Kerkyra Corfu Greece is also the home of quite a few landmarks, from the impressive Agios Spyridon church to the Liston, an arcaded terrace of cages where you can relax and watch the world go by. Next check out the eucalyptus-shaded Esplanade, with its park and cricket ground. If you are in the mood for some history, visit the two imposing fortresses or the atmospheric Archeological museum with its Mycean and classical collections, and the icon-filled Byzantine museum.

The large number of tourists who visit the island each year give it a cosmopolitan air. All over Corfu town, there are quaint tavernas and top class restaurants, old style coffee shops and modern outdoor cafes. When you fancy some time in the sun the capital’s small, sandy Mon Repos beach is good for chilling for a while. However if you want to visit one of the many impressive beaches in Kerkyra Corfu Greece, just hop on a bus to any one of the lovely bays along the coastline.

CorfuTown has a lively nightlife as well. Visit one of the many bars and restaurants of the town, have some drinks and unwind. Up for more? Then grab a cab to the north of town where you’ll find more than enough music bars and nightclubs to keep you dancing all night.
